Local fishermen were racing against time to catch crab and earn an income before the fishing industry completely shut down with oil contaminating the waters after the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Currently blue crab fishing is the only industry open after shrimp and oyster fishing were closed a month earlier.
